Mike Lindell has stepped down as CEO of his bedding company, MyPillow, to focus on his run for Minnesota governor.
“Today, I’ve made one of the biggest decisions of my life.
I'm stepping down as CEO of MyPillow so I can devote 100% of my time and energy to my campaign for Governor of Minnesota,” Lindell, who founded the company in 2004, wrote on X Tuesday.
“Minnesota deserves my full attention, and that's exactly what I'm giving it.
I'm all in, and I can't wait to earn your vote,” he added.
Lindell, a Minnesota native, announced late last year that he would enter the gubernatorial race.
Last month, President Donald Trump gave Lindell his endorsement, calling him “one of America’s greatest and most hard working Patriots.”
At an event for Minnesota’s farmers, Lindell name-dropped Trump, telling the audience of his opponents, “ I have an advantage over everyone up here.
I can call up and work with the president of the United States.”
With Lindell gone, Jim Furlong, who served as the company’s president from 2004 to 2019, will return as CEO.
“Real leadership means knowing when to lead, when to trust your team, and when to put a larger calling first,” Lindell said in a press release.
“I trust Jim and the Board to protect our employees, our customers, and our Minnesota roots.”
The company has promised that no Minnesota jobs will be affected by the change in leadership.
Aside from his MyPillow product, Lindell is known for spreading baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election.
In September 2025, a federal judge in Minnesota ruled that Lindell defamed election technology firm Smartmatic by falsely claiming its voting machines helped rig the election.
In June, it was reported that Lindell settled a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit that another election tech company formerly known as Dominion Voting Systems filed against him in 2021 over his 2020 conspiracy theories.
In his Truth Social post announcing his support for Lindell, Trump, who continues to baselessly claim that former President Joe Biden stole the 2020 election from him, wrote, “Nobody has sacrificed more than Mike Lindell in fighting for our country, especially when it comes to Election Integrity.”
Minnesota’s Republican and Democratic primary elections for governor will take place Tuesday.
Lindell is leading his Republican opponents by nine points in a recent KSTP/SurveyUSA poll.
The MyPillow founder has 35 percent support from likely Republican primary voters, while Minnesota state Representative Lisa Demuth has 26 percent and businessman Kendall Qualls has 11 percent.
The biggest name in the Democratic primary is US Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Current Minnesota Governor Tim Walz abruptly announced in January that he would not seek re-election amid scrutiny of his handling of welfare fraud in the state.
In his statement announcing that he would no longer seek a third term, Walz defended his work to root out fraud: “We’ve gone to the legislature time and again to get more tools to combat fraud.
We’ve fired people who weren’t doing their jobs.
We’ve seen people go to jail for stealing from our state.”
