Moore echoed Ford’s message on lowering costs and affordability, saying he is campaigning on similar points in Maryland against Republican nominee Dan Cox.
“Ford has an agenda that makes sure we’re focusing on lowering costs for the people of our state,” Moore said, “an agenda saying we’re going to support our small businesses and making sure that our small businesses have a chance to thrive.”
Moore helped shepherd a budget package into law in 2025 that closed a $3.3 billion deficit through a mix of spending cuts and new revenue.
Though critics frame it as an across-the-board burden on families, the package specifically targeted higher-income earners and included new tax brackets for those making $500,000 to $1 million annually.
Moore’s administration says 94% of Maryland residents saw their income tax decrease or stay flat under the package.
For its part, the Lombardo campaign put out a statement criticizing Ford and Moore.
“Aaron Ford is rolling out the red carpet for one of the biggest tax-hikers in America,” the statement read.

Tuesday’s event included plenty of photos of Ford and Moore with customers, and Ford and Moore meeting with the restaurant’s staff.
Jiles said her staff of 22 workers and a loyal customer base makes Gritz the community’s cafe.
“Trina has been a staple of our community,” Ford said.
“When I heard Wes was coming (to Las Vegas), I said, ‘Well, you've got to come to the community’s cafe.’
”
Visits to Nevada are always in vogue for presidential contenders from either party.
While Moore has stepped back from earlier denials of a 2028 White House bid — he has since declined to rule one out, including as recently as Monday during stops in Michigan — Newsom is seen as a top contender for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Appearances here could be seen as testing the waters for a potential presidential run in what will likely be one of the earliest — perhaps the first — Democratic presidential primaries on the 2028 election calendar.
