The munitions, known respectively as ATACMS and PrSM, are a key part of the United States’ military might — giving the ability to conduct accurate strikes from a safe distance, Reuters reported, citing three sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The weapons cost more than $1 million each and are thought to be a key part of the military’s readiness.
ATACMS and PrSMs supplied by the U.S. have already played a crucial role in Ukraine’s war against Russia, enabling Ukraine to hit targets inside Russia’s borders.

The United States has “far more munitions than anyone in the world” and “far more than we need,” the White House told Reuters via a statement from President Donald Trump .
“Our defense companies are, at this moment, making more munitions than they have ever made before, in addition to expanding their plants and equipment at record levels,” he said, according to the statement.
ATACMs and PrSMs maker Lockheed Martin did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment, while a Pentagon spokesperson also told the outlet there was nothing to fear.
“America’s military is the most powerful in the world and has everything it needs to execute at the time and place of the President’s choosing,” spokesman Sean Parnell told Reuters.
“We have executed multiple successful operations across combatant commands while ensuring the U.S. military possesses a deep arsenal of capabilities to protect our people and our interests.”
