Houston and Southeast Texas region face dangerously high heat 17%

The Houston region again faces triple-digit temperatures on Wednesday, when the heat could be dangerous to those who spend time outdoors.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory on Tuesday.
Even hotter temperatures are forecasted for Wednesday, when the expected high is 104 degrees with heat indices in the 110-115 range.
The region will be under an extreme heat warning from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Wednesday, meaning dangerous heat is expected.
The warning applies to the entire Southeast Texas region, including Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston and Montgomery counties.
"Take extra precautions when outside and make sure to wear lightweight and loose fitting clothes," said Janice Maldonado, a meteorologist for the weather service's Houston/Galveston office.
"Try to limit heavy activities to early in the morning or in the evening hours."

The weather service issues a heat advisory when the heat index, or "feel-like" temperature, is expected to reach between 105 to 109 degrees.
The advisory alerts the public to the increased risk of heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
An extreme heat warning means feels-like temperatures and heat-related illness risks are even higher.
The weather service advises to stay hydrated along with staying in air-conditioning and out of the sun if possible.
As temperatures soar, the city of Houston has opened dozens of cooling centers.
Mayor John Whitmire said thousands of people were already registered as of Wednesday morning.
“This is a serious alert,” Whitmire said.
“I would urge everyone to drink lots of fluids, try to stay out of the sun.”
A map of Houston cooling centers can be found on the website for the city’s office of emergency management.
The weather service said in a forecast bulletin that temperatures during the latter half of the week will depend on the evolution of Tropical Storm Bertha, which formed Monday in the northeastern Gulf and was moving slowly to the west.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the storm was not expected to have significant impacts on Southeast Texas.
"We may eke out a couple showers or storms Wednesday and Thursday afternoons as a weak backdoor front moves into the area, but chances are rather low," Maldonado said.
