Problems with Reflecting Pool renovation as paint peels, algae blooms 90%

Workers with waders and pool cleaning equipment are working overtime at Washington's iconic reflecting pool, battling the algae that has turned one of the president's prized projects from American flag blue to green.

It's actually starting to peel. It's coming up.

The project was completed last week, and for a couple of days, it seemed to work, but the water quickly started turning green.
By the beginning of this week, algae everywhere.
The National Park Service has brought in workers from across the country and hired another contractor to combat the algae bloom.
Wading through the shallow water, they're using vacuum pumps and strainers to clear the water and remove the muck.
And just days ago, workers dumped hydrogen peroxide into the pool.
>> They've been working for days to try to kill the algae using something they call nano bubble technology, but take a look at the water here. I mean, it's still as green as can be and just plain filthy.
>> In an elite night social media post on Wednesday, the Trump administration said the water was now, quote, crystal clear.
It may be eventually, but it's anything but clear now.
Officials at the Interior Department say they are confident that the water will be clear by the time the 4th of July festivities start happening here in Washington.
As for that peeling sealant, uh we've reached out for comment from the White House and the Interior Department, no word back yet.

actually became somewhat of a tourist attraction down there.
