A US Army helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz.
Chief Global Affairs anchor Martha Raddatz starts us off from Jerusalem.
Good morning, Martha.
>> Good morning, George.
It remains a mystery why this attack Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz off the waters of Oman, but we have learned remarkable new details this morning about the rescue of the two crew members.
The rescue was carried out by Navy and Air Force assets from what is called Task Force 59, the Navy's first ever drone task force.
An unmanned Navy surface vehicle vessel a drone boat was sent to pick up the downed crew.
The crew was able to climb aboard the boat, which then delivered them to shore.
All of this happened within two hours of the helicopter going down.
The crew is said to be in stable condition.
Again, we do not know whether this helicopter was shot down or whether this was mechanical difficulty, but these Apache helicopters have been aggressively patrolling uh the Strait of Hormuz looking for Iranian small boats.
This comes in a in a part of a very high tension, George.
Uh and that has gone spiked and it has gone back down again in the last few days,
George.
>> No question about it.
Okay, Martha, thanks very much.
