'I don't think he's got to make a life choice to commit to this if he's doing this now,' Gere said.
'He's good at it and he's having fun, but he can become a rock climber if he wants to do that.'
Gere noted his son also 'just finished shooting a film' with venerated director Oliver Stone.
He said in jest, 'I can retire now.
I'm passing the torch.'
Gere said he wasn't putting any pressure on his son to fill his shoes in Hollywood, making clear he was fine with Homer pursuing anything that made him happy.
