President Donald Trump issued a firm warning that Iran should not strike Qatar again in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike, lest the U.S. completely wipe out an Iranian gas field.
In a Truth Social Post on Wednesday night, Trump explained that Israel, “out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East,” struck a major facility in Iran known as South Pars Gas Field.
He said that Israel “violently lashed out,” though only a small section of the facility was hit.
He clarified that both the United States and Qatar were uninvolved with this attack, though Iran assumed otherwise.
“The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen,” Trump stated.
“Unfortunately, Iran did not know this, or any of the pertinent facts pertaining to the South Pars attack, and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar’s LNG (liquefied natural gas) Gas facility.”
“NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field,” Trump vowed, adding that this rule may change if Iran “unwisely” attacks Qatar, which is innocent in this instance.
In the case that Iran does decide to strike Qatar, Trump said, “the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.
I do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long-term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar’s LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so.”

On Wednesday, Iranian state media warned that the regime would target a refinery in Qatar, according to the Associated Press.
South Pars is shared by Iran and Qatar, but only the Iranian side was targeted.
Majed al-Ansari, a spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, admonished Israel for the attack in a post on X.
“The Israeli targeting of facilities linked to Iran’s South Pars field, an extension of Qatar’s North Field, is a dangerous & irresponsible step amid the current military escalation in the region,” he wrote.
He continued, “We reiterate, as we have repeatedly emphasized, the necessity of avoiding the targeting of vital facilities.
We call on all parties to exercise restraint, adhere to international law, & work toward de-escalation in a manner that preserves the security & stability of the region.”

QatarEnergy, the country’s state oil giant and the world’s second-largest liquefied natural gas exporter, reported rocket and missile attacks on Wednesday and early Thursday on Ras Laffan Industrial City, from which it suffered “extensive damage” and several LNG facilities.
“Emergency response teams were deployed immediately to contain the resulting fires, as extensive damage has been caused.
All personnel have been accounted for and no casualties have been reported at this time,” the company wrote in a news statement.
“The Iranian side continues its escalatory policies that are pushing the region toward the brink and drawing countries not party to this crisis into the conflict zone,” Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
