A Boston man is facing a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester during Fourth of July weekend.
Catrelle Davis, 24, was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge in the July 5 shooting death of 24-year-old Travis Washington, the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement.
Davis was arraigned Wednesday morning in Boston Municipal Court’s Dorchester division, where he pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail, court records show.
Just after midnight on July 5, Boston police found Washington suffering from gunshot wounds at 500 Blue Hill Ave.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
Prosecutors said Washington was standing with a group of people during Independence Day celebrations when he was shot.
First responders located three people who had been shot in the incident.
Two suffered less serious injuries, and a fourth victim later “self-applied to a local hospital” with a gunshot wound, police said.
Davis was committed to Suffolk County Jail and is expected to return to court for a pre-trial conference Sept. 22, according to court records.
“Every homicide is a societal tragedy, and the tragedy is magnified when the victim is a young person just getting started in life,” Hayden said.
“I extend my deepest sympathies to Travis Washington's family and friends, and I thank all of the investigators for their tireless work resulting in Catrelle Davis's arrest.”
Attorney information for Davis was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
