The win sparked celebrations across Midtown, where crowds spilled into streets and packed businesses around the arena. 
Traffic on Eighth Avenue ground to a halt as fans filled intersections and sidewalks. 
In the minutes after the victory, nearly a dozen people climbed atop police vehicles at the corner of West 37th Street and Eighth Avenue. 
Fans also scaled utility poles, swarmed NYPD patrol cars, and climbed atop other vehicles as crowds surged through the area.

The NYPD early Thursday said officers made multiple arrests, which they were still tallying alongside reports of damage.
