FLINT, Mich.  Flint residents now have an additional week to apply for the city’s hazardous tree removal program, which provides assistance to eligible property owners for removing trees that pose safety risks to homes, sidewalks and public areas.
Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley extended the application deadline to Friday, July 24, 2026, following strong community interest and continued demand for the program.
"Protecting the health and safety of Flint residents remains one of our highest priorities," Neeley said in a July 17 press release.
"We have heard from residents who need additional time to complete their applications, and we want to ensure every eligible homeowner has the opportunity to participate in this important program."
The program is designed to help eligible property owners remove hazardous trees while supporting Flint’s efforts to maintain a safe and sustainable urban forest.
Flint is a designated Tree City USA community.
Residents who believe they may qualify are encouraged to apply before the new deadline.
The city is asking community organizations and neighborhood groups to share information about the program with residents who may benefit.
