A large brawl broke out in front of a Minneapolis nightclub around the corner from a mass shooting in a neighborhood that the Democrat mayor insisted was safe.
Footage showed several scantily clad women fighting outside of Kiss Lounge & Rooftop in the Uptown neighborhood early Sunday morning.
Police officers appeared to break up the women who were exchanging blows and putting each other in chokeholds.
The fight broke out around the corner from the Reign Event Center where nine people were shot just before 12.30am, KARE 11 reported.
First responders found seven men and two women between the ages of 18 and 27 with gunshot wounds, including two men who were suffering life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the shooting began after an altercation, and police are working to determine whether the shots were fired from a vehicle.
It is unclear if the fight at Kiss Lounge and the shooting at the Reign Event Center are connected.
The venues are located within a two-minute walk of each other.
'This incident is an unthinkable, disgusting, and cowardly act.
This investigation remains in its early stages, and we are committed to identifying every single person responsible.'
According to KSTP, Babu posted to her Instagram story: 'They just shot my booking up with a switch.
Prayers to the people who were injured.'
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the shooting, just months after insisting the Uptown neighborhood was safe.
'The shooting in Uptown last night is intolerable, and we will be working to hold the perpetrators accountable for this senseless act of violence,' Frey said in a statement.
'This is a stark reminder that keeping our streets safe requires every tool available.'
'We need partnerships where the perpetrators of these acts are arrested and prosecuted, we need to continue hiring more police officers to both investigate and prevent gun crimes, and we must embrace proven technologies from drones to ShotSpotter that allow our police to do their jobs with greater efficiency.'
'I'm grateful for the work of our police officers that immediately responded and are working towards arrests.'
In April, Frey and disgraced former police chief Brian O'Hara held a press conference boasting about the increased safety measures in the neighborhood.
'We hear Uptown.
This neighborhood matters, and people need to feel safe here,' Frey said.
'We've made progress with stronger patrols and better coordination, but there's more to do.
That's why we're stepping up visible safety efforts, working with urgency, and pairing compassion with accountability to make Uptown safe and welcoming.'
A month later, O'Hara resigned amid a probe into his alleged sexual misconduct on the force following a formal complaint filed against him in April 2025.
The Daily Mail contacted the Minneapolis Police Department, the mayor's office and Kiss Lounge & Rooftop.
