Scott Bryce, who starred as Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns in the 1980s, returned to the CBS soap in ensuing years, was a regular on The WB dramedy Popular and guested on dozen of shows during a 35-year screen career, has died.
He was 68.
His son Jackson confirmed the news on social media, saying his father died July 12 after a long battle with cancer.
“This evening my father lost his long-fought battle with cancer,” he wrote on Instagram in part.
“What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumors that took his life away from him.”
Bryce earned back-to-back Daytime Emmys noms for Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1986 and 1987 for his turns as the power hungry and promiscuous Montgomery in As the World Turns.
He played role regularly from early 1982 to mid-1987, returning for several stints in the late ’80s, 1990s and later 2000s.
Bryce later had an arc roles the ABC daytime drama One Life to Live.

He also was a series regular on the Ryan Murphy-created WB series Popular, playing the father of lead Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb).
His engagement to the mother of co-lead Sam McPherson (Carly Pope) forces the two girls to share a house.
Bryce appeared in all 43 of the show’s episodes from 1999-2001.
Born on January 6, 1958, in New York City, Bryce got his screen start with a four-episode role as Rick Bonner on NBC’s The Facts of Life in 1988.
Along with his As the World Turns role, he went on work steadily in TV, guesting on such popular series as The Golden Girls, The Commish, Who’s the Boss?
and L.A.
Law.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown as the husband of Faith Ford’s Corky Sherwood.
Bryce had a handful of feature and TV movie credits but spent most of his career guesting on series.
His 1990s credits include Matlock, Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Street, Spin City, Boston Common, Early Edition and Pacific Blue, ahead of his stint on Popular.
The 2000s saw Bryce appear in episodes of such hit shows as Judging Amy, ER, 30 Rock and Reba.
He later appeared on Homeland, Gossip Girl, Chicago P.D., Law & Order: SVU, The Good Fight, The Blacklist and Blue Bloods.
Information on Bryce’s survivors other than his son was incomplete.
