Jay-Z concert starts hours late after police say fans without tickets rushed entrances 88%

Ariel Barrow was looking forward to this night for months.

>> People were trying to shove and push and the security kind of jumped over people to get the doors locked and and um in place.
So, it seemed that there was a little bit of a bum rush to get inside.
>> The frustration felt by many stranded outside.
>> We are in line for the Jay-Z concert.
>> They bum rush.
>> Bum rush the game.
>> They shut it down. The Grammy-winning artist eventually taking the stage after 12 and trying to offer comfort and context.
>> There's 10,000 people outside. I don't want to stop music and people get trampled. Appreciate your patience.
>> Jen Bug attended the concert on Friday and Saturday and had tickets for Sunday, but never made it inside.
>> It wasn't even fathomable to even make it to the door. That's how dense the crowd was.

Um, we saw every range of emotion.
>> In a joint statement, the New York Yankees, Rock Nation, and Live Nation said that hundreds of people in large groups who did not have tickets to the show quote, stormed over peaceful ticket holders and in some cases breached security at various entrances.
As a result, gates at all entryways were closed for an extended period of time.
Bug does not blame Jay-Z. Overall, safety is the main priority.

Sam, there were tens of thousands of people there.
And what we're hearing is that there were no arrests or injuries, which is pretty incredible.

No arrests, no injuries.
You know, we did anecdotally speak with some folks who said there was some dehydration issues,
heat related issues, but nothing that rose to the level of significant.
It seems like the inflection point in all this 2021 Astroorld, that tragedy,
Travis Scott concert, 10 people were killed, hundreds were injured, organizers had really been incredibly safe and safety oriented ever since that point in time.
This was another example where if it meant gates were closed for hours, people were let in slowly and
cautiously.
That's an exchange that they were willing to make. And again, no one injured, thousands of people standing outside waiting around for hours.
>> Seems it seems like it took him a little bit by surprise, but you're right.

That was also kind of odd that the security wasn't prepared for that level of volume.
It's not clear if that was an NYPD issue, a Yankee security issue.
It seems like they all sort of acknowledge this is not how we wanted it to go.
