Let's take a look now at the target list
so far, and what's still on the table
for US forces. Chief National Security
Correspondent Jennifer Griffin has that part of the story tonight for us.
Good evening, Jennifer.
>> Good evening, Aisha. Pentagon officials indicated the plan all along was to negotiate with bombs.
After two nights of targeting Iranian air defense systems and radars, the president said, quote,
"Discussions had been approved by Iran's leaders."
What that means is yet to be determined, though the president has determined, quote, "The naval blockade will remain in full force and effect until this transaction is finalized."
Time and place of the signing to be announced shortly."
Iranian leaders denied reports of an agreement.
Earlier today, CENTCOM disabled a third oil tanker this week in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel violated the blockade against Iran by attempting to transport Iranian oil.
A US aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles into the ship's engine room after the crew refused to stop.
President Trump Wednesday had warned Tehran to prepare for another night of bombing, even suggesting the US would take Kharg Island, the center of Iran's oil export trade, and about the size of Iwo Jima.
Announcing such an operation was highly unusual, and critics say would have eliminated the element of surprise, putting US troops in danger of being ambushed.
The top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee had a grave warning, quote, "You'd have significant casualties going ashore, and it also is within a range of all their shore batteries. So, as you occupy the island, they would still keep shelling you."
President Trump on Fox and Friends said,
said this morning, he agreed he didn't think Americans have the stomach for the losses that would likely result from such a ground operation.
such a ground operation.

>> Well, now it would be we signed this agreement.
>> Earlier today, the Pentagon ordered a shelter in place for four corridors and four floors after threat detectors registered a bio hazard scent forcing hazmat teams and gas masks to scrub several locations in the Pentagon's A ring.
In the end, after hours of lockdown, the Pentagon announced it had been a false alarm.
