An iconic American-South African actress showed off her wrinkle-free visage on a rare public outing this week.
The star developed her chops in Cape Town, where she performed in stage productions of Romeo and Juliet and Silent Night.
She's gone on to have an illustrious Hollywood career, which took off in the 90s after she appeared as Helen Hirsch in Schindler's List.
In 1996 she portrayed the beloved Miss Honey in the iconic children's film Matilda, starring alongside Mara Wilson.
She counts Denzel Washington as a co-star, with the two solving otherworldly crimes in the 1998 drama Fallen.
And she's made two guest appearances in Grey's Anatomy.
Now 60, she made her directorial debut with the 2024 film adaptation of Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival.
Can you guess who she is?
It's Embeth Davidtz!
She was 30 years old when she appeared in Matilda, stealing hearts with her sweet portrayal of the nurturing first grade teacher.
In October 2025, she told The Independent about the character's lasting effect, 'I think we all have this idealized version of a mother, a teacher, a guardian or a friend when we’re young, and Miss Honey is just someone who would really protect you when the chips are down.
'If you’re neglected, she’d come and rescue you.
If you’re realizing that you’re gay and can’t tell anybody just yet, she would see you and understand you and accept you.
She just came to represent something so much bigger than what we knew at the time.'
Before becoming a mainstay in films and television, she was born to South African parents John and Jean Davidtz in Indiana.
She was raised in New Jersey until age nine, at which point she and her family relocated to Pretoria, where her dad became a chemical engineering professor.
In 2002 Davidtz married entertainment lawyer Jason Sloane, and she later converted to Judaism for him.
They share two children – daughter Charlotte, 23, and son Dylan, 20.
The actress looked taut, appearing younger than her nearly 61 years while out in Beverly Hills this month.
She was clad in black joggers, a white T-shirt, and a zip-up black sweater.
Davidtz added white sneakers and a quilted black Chanel purse.
The movie star made a purchase at the jewelry store XIV Karats, Ltd during the solo outing.
For her birthday last August, Davidtz took to Instagram to share a reflective post.
Alongside a photo of her smiling in a lounge chair on Hawaii's Lumahai Beach, she wrote: 'This is 60.
⭐️✨⚡️I have such a grateful heart for all of the love I have been given and such wonder for the surprises that life keeps bringing.
'Here is to another lucky and love filled decade❤️.'
