Longtime Mill City resident Eula Wilson’s journey toward repairing her home began more than five years ago.
Each year, she ran into obstacle after obstacle when applying to the City of Dallas’ home repair programs.
At first, she didn’t qualify because the house was in her late husband’s name.
She fixed that problem and others, but once she had jumped through all the hoops, inspectors determined she didn’t qualify because the cost of her repairs was too high.
In February, as the City of Dallas reworked its home repair programs, Dallas Free Press’ Jennie Trejo published a story detailing Wilson’s journey.
Soon, Wilson will have a new home, courtesy of South Dallas nonprofit Frazier Revitalization.
After a home assessment determined Wilson’s living conditions were unsafe, the organization announced it would build her a brand new home through its Frazier Healthy Homes program.
