Hamilton celebrates health center week with free Flint-area events 1%

FLINT, Mich.  Hamilton Community Health Network is celebrating National Health Center Week with a series of free events highlighting community health resources, family activities and back-to-school support across Genesee County. 
National Health Center Week is observed annually by federally qualified health centers across the country to promote access to affordable health care and connect residents with available services. 
"This year, we're celebrating 'Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most,'" said Clarence Pierce, president and CEO of Hamilton Community Health Network. 
"We invite our patients and anyone else who would like to come out and celebrate with us." 
Throughout the week Hamilton along with community partners will offer a variety of free, family-friendly activities and resources. 
Events will feature meals and refreshments, inflatable games, Kona Ice, community resources, personal needs items, backpacks, prizes and other giveaways. 
Families will also have opportunities to receive fresh produce and participate in activities designed for children and families. 
The week includes several themed events at Hamilton locations:

Pierce said the celebration is designed to introduce residents to the many organizations available to support their health and well-being. 
"We have a number of vendors come out. 
A lot of our local partners come out  the health department, the hospitals, Genesee Health Plan, the police department, the fire department," he said. 
Pierce said the goal of National Health Center Week is to ensure more residents know affordable health care is available in their communities. 
"As a federally qualified health center, we treat everyone regardless of ability to pay," Pierce said. 
"That includes Medicaid, commercial insurance, and we provide a sliding fee scale for those who meet income requirements."
