Local plant-based cafe chain Rooted Juicery has closed its Oakley location permanently.
Previously, the chain announced on July 20 that the Oakley storefront was heavily affected by the recent burst of severe inclement weather across the Cincinnati area — including, but not limited to, more than two feet of flooding causing damage inside the building — and would need to temporarily close.
It seems the damage was irreparable, as Rooted Juicery announced in a social media post today that the Oakley location is now closed for good.
However, the chain’s Over-the-Rhine location is still open, and a new Rooted Juicery opens Friday in Madisonville’s Element Eatery food hall.
“The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind, and we can’t thank you enough for your patience, grace, and support as we’ve navigated the aftermath of the recent storms and flooding,” the company’s latest social media post said.
“While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to a space that has meant so much to us and our community, we’re looking ahead with excitement for what’s next.”
The Oakley location was Rooted Juicery’s first when it opened in 2015.
At one point, the company had storefronts in Over-the-Rhine, Mariemont and downtown Cincinnati; all three of those closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Aaron Kull subsequently purchased the company from Megan Tysoe in 2024.
He later reopened the Over-the-Rhine cafe in May 2025.
