Nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles, where the stars of critically acclaimed shows will vie for the coveted statuettes honoring television's best shows and performances from the past year.
The Pitt led the way with 25 nominations, followed by Hacks with 24 nods in its final season — a record for a comedy series — and newcomers Widow's Bay (19), Pluribus (18), Beef (16) and DTF St.
Louis (13).
Jason Bateman, star of DTF St.
Louis , received two nominations for the HBO dark comedy (one as a performer, one as a producer) and two for the Netflix drama Black Rabbit , in which he starred and directed.
Other stars with multiple nominations included Matthew Rhys (two for Widow's Bay as a performer and producer, one for The Beast in Me as a performer), Quinta Brunson (three for performing, writing and producing on Abbott Elementary ) and Paul W.
Downs (performing, writing and producing on Hacks ).
Rhys won an Emmy in 2018 for his acting work in The Americans .
His wife and Americans costar Keri Russell is still looking for her first — and she's up again for The Diplomat .
Carey Mulligan, who has been nominated for three Academy Awards, earned her first-ever Emmy nods — two for acting in and producing Beef .
Sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning were each nominated for two Emmy Awards.
Elle was recognized as both a performer and producer for Margo's Got Money Troubles , while Dakota earned an acting nomination for All Her Fault and shared a producer nomination for Margo's Got Money Troubles .
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert received nine Emmy nominations in its final season, the most in its 11-year history .
And the late actor and director Rob Reiner received a posthumous Emmy nomination for his guest-starring role on The Bear .
HBO Max led all networks with 122 nominations, followed by Netflix (111) and Apple TV (87).
ABC topped the broadcast networks with 40.
This year's competition will include 118 categories .
Final-round voting for this year's nominees will run from Aug. 17 through Aug.

Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas ( The Bear ) and Jeff Hiller ( Somebody Somewhere ) presented some of the major categories at the Academy's Wolf Theatre in a live ceremony .

The final season of Stranger Things received seven nominations, but none in the major acting, directing or series categories.
Chase Infiniti, who was not nominated at this year's Oscars for her turn in One Battle After Another , landed an Emmy nod for her lead role in The Testaments .
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, who were each nominated for Emmys last year for their roles in the first season of Nobody Wants This , were not nominated for the show's second season.
Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney also failed to earn a nomination in the show's third and final season after previously receiving one.
Other notable acting snubs included Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear , and Paul Anthony Kelly, who played John F.
Kennedy Jr. in the FX series Love Story .
And Hot Ones , the popular YouTube interview-and-spicy-chicken-wing-eating show hosted by Sean Evans, was not nominated, while Kareem Rahma's YouTube talk show SubwayTakes was.
Meanwhile, two of the year's most popular series, Heated Rivalry and Dutton Ranch , were not eligible for 2026 Emmy consideration, each for different reasons.
The first four episodes of Taylor Sheridan's Dutton Ranch were eligible for this year's Emmys, but the last five were released after the May deadline.
Paramount+ opted to wait to submit the full season for consideration in next year's awards.
Heated Rivalry was produced in Canada, making the hit hockey romance ineligible as a foreign television series that was created and funded outside the United States.
Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie did, however, receive an Emmy nomination — for hosting Saturday Night Live .
The 78th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on NBC and stream live on Peacock from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sept.
