A 5-year-old boy was found dead early Monday morning in a lake near his home after being reported missing the day before, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
In a 4 a.m. statement on social media, the sheriff's office said investigators had found no signs of foul play in the death of Edward Hall.
He was the subject of an Amber Alert sent Sunday afternoon.
The sheriff's office said Hall was reported missing after having last been seen Sunday afternoon in the 3800 block of Ryans Rock Court in Katy, a suburb west of Houston.
Hall's body was recovered at approximately 1:45 a.m.
Monday.
"The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office extends its sincere gratitude to Texas EquuSearch Search & Recovery for its invaluable assistance and partnership throughout the search efforts," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Edward's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."
