The nation’s capital will celebrate America’s 250th birthday Saturday with an ambitious seven-hour spectacle featuring dozens of military flyovers and demonstrations for attendees to enjoy.
President Donald Trump’s administration, in collaboration with Freedom 250, has scheduled 33 flyovers and military demonstrations that will take to the skies over Washington, D.C., from 1:15 p.m. to sunset at 8:30 p.m.
The program will also feature a speech from Trump at 9:45 p.m. and a fireworks show at 10:30, which is expected to be the “largest fireworks show in history.”
“July 4th will be a step beyond anything you’ve ever seen,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
“The Military flyovers will be the best, EVER — The most planes, the newest planes, the fastest planes!
I’ll be there to speak about how Great our Country is and, Making America Great Again!”
The flyovers will be visible along the National Mall and the Washington Monument, featuring demonstrations from NASA, the United States Army, the United States Air Force, and the United States Marine Corps.
The schedule was adjusted to accommodate the intense heat wave in Washington, D.C.
The event will allow attendees to bring non-metal water bottles that may be refilled at several complimentary water stations, according to a joint statement from Freedom 250, the United States Park Police, National Park Service, the United States Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
There will also be cooling stations, misting areas, shaded rest areas, cooling tents, and medical personnel on site.
“The safety and well-being of every guest remains our top priority as we celebrate this historic 250th Independence Day,” the joint statement reads.
“In light of current heat conditions, Freedom 250, United States Park Police, National Park Service, the United States Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have coordinated closely to adjust event timing and expand cooling resources, water stations, and medical support across the grounds.
We are proud to welcome the public to a safe, well-prepared, and truly memorable celebration of America’s 250th birthday.”
