A hearing has been scheduled for a complaint against 41st District Democratic State Central Committee member Ronald Rosenbluth stemming from a June 17 incident in which a 78-year-old Jewish woman said he aggressively berated her for supporting a non-Jewish candidate.
“The Ad Hoc Code of Conduct Committee has reviewed the petition, and has determined that it merits a hearing and possible action by the Maryland Democratic Party’s Credentials Committee,” Party Affairs Director Justin Butler said in an email today.
78-year-old Ruff supporter says an Attar backer physically harassed and intimidated her, screaming, “I hate Jews like you” (6/20/26)
The hearing will take place during the credentials committee’s virtual meeting on July 15, Butler said, in an email shared with The Brew.
Organized like a mini-trial according to party procedure, the hearing gives both sides an opportunity to make an opening statement, put on witnesses, ask each other questions and answer questions posed by the committee members.
At the end, prior to voting, Butler said the committee members will deliberate in closed session.
“People were holding him back”
The incident took place in the run-up to the June 23 Democratic Party Primary Election.
Betsy Krieger had come to the Public Safety Training Center at 3500 West North Avenue where early voting was taking place.
She was there as a supporter of Delegate Malcolm Ruff, who was challenging incumbent Dalya Attar for her 41st District Senate seat.
Always an election season hot spot, Baltimore’s 41st District is extra edgy thanks to criminal charges one candidate is facing (6/13/26)
According to Krieger and multiple other witnesses, Attar supporters had accused the Ruff campaigners of being antisemitic, prompting Krieger to say she was Jewish.
At that point, Rosenbluth, a central committee member and Attar supporter, allegedly began to scream at Krieger.
“He said, ‘I hate Jews like you’ and ‘How many people did your family lose in the Holocaust?’”
Krieger said in an interview with The Brew.
“People were holding him back, literally holding him back,” she continued.
“I don’t know if he would have hit me or not, but he was certainly screaming and trying to get in my face.”
A complaint filed subsequently with Maryland Democratic Party officials called for Rosenbluth to be removed from the 41st District central committee.
Unofficial results (with provisional votes still to be tallied) indicate that Rosenbluth has gotten enough votes to be re-elected to the committee.
