A permit filed to shut down Manhattan streets surrounding Madison Square Garden for most of Independence Day weekend is further fueling speculation that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are setting the stage there for a blowout Midtown wedding.
A city official confirmed a permit was filed for July 2 through midday on the 4th to shut down the streets around the Garden.
The event planning company Winick Productions sent in the request to the city’s Street Activity Permit Office to set up a tent or canopy outside the arena for the event, with a capacity of 500 to 999 attendees.
The company also requested the 10th of July, the city official said.
Representatives for the NYPD and Swift did not immediately return the Daily News’ request for comment.
Earlier this month, Mayor Mamdani said he did not plan to attend the nuptials.
“I wish them a lovely wedding,” the mayor said, adding that he'd listen to her 2020 election anthem “Only the Young” in celebration, “at home on my own.”
Sources told both TMZ and The New York Times that several Kansas City Chiefs teammates of Travis Kelce have reserved rooms at Times Square's Marriott Marquis around the time of the weekend in question.
Though TMZ reported the lovers, both 36, were previously planning on exchanging vows at five-star Ocean House, situated near Swift’s Rhode Island "holiday house" on June 13, they decided to change course when news about the plans broke.
Still, marital festivities of some sort are believed to have taken place in the New England state this past weekend, thanks to a giant white tent beside Ocean House, though the Grammy winner and Super Bowl champ had not yet secured a marriage license in Rhode Island.
TMZ reported earlier this month that the "Paper Rings" crooner and "New Heights" podcast host were preparing to marry at MSG in front of anywhere from 1,100 to 1,200 guests.
It's unclear whether the couple will host their ceremony and reception at the massive concert venue, or just the latter.
