Sex TV icon Robin Byrd revealed the moment that her husband Shelly filmed her one-night stand with a 90s adult film star.
The 71-year-old TV personality is known for hosting the late night cable series The Robin Byrd Show from 1977 through 1998, which notably developed a cult following.
Her new HBO documentary Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story dropped on the streaming site last month on June 30 following its premiere at the Tribeca Festival in NYC.
The film takes a closer look at Byrd's life and career, including her late night public access show.
Her husband had been heavily involved with the series, and one of her guests had been adult film star Jeff Stryker.
'I always thought it was a good idea to get up close and personal with Jeff Stryker,' she said in the documentary.
'So, he did an interview in my bed at a hotel in Vegas, and then we had sex and Shelly filmed it.'
Byrd reflected on how her 'audience has this imagination of who I am.
I'm their fantasy,' before sharing that no one had known she and Shelly were married.
'This is probably a complete shock, to know that I've been with him since '74,' she added.
'Me, the orgy queen, but he never judged me.
He was the Head Gopher, but he was so much more than that.
So much more.'
The Robin Byrd Show aired from 1977 through 1998, and she talked about a variety of topics such as her advocacy during the AIDS crisis and safe sex.
Viewers were also able to call in and talk to the late night host.
'For years, your television had been telling you what to eat, what to drink, what to buy.
Now you could talk back through your phone  and with no delay!'
she told The Guardian.
The episodes of her show would conclude with guests dancing to her track Baby, Let Me Bang Your Box.
Her show was later parodied during an episode of Saturday Night Live back in the 90s.
'I loved it.
I was so happy they paid homage to me,' Byrd expressed in an interview with Wired.
'They contacted me, and they wanted permission to be able to imitate me, and they got it.
They re-created my costume.
They even re-created my sign.
I felt like I'd arrived and went national.'
In 1995, the TV host also won a lawsuit against Time Warner Cable which prevented the federal government from banning indecent programming.
Along with her late night show, Byrd also appeared in a number of pornographic films throughout the 70s including Debbie Does Dallas (1978).
'I always joke that I'm a gay man in a woman's body,' the star told USA Today earlier this month.
'Because I'm not your typical woman.
I don't see other women doing what I did or what I've done.'
Byrd's HBO documentary was released late last month on June 30 with Jyllian Gunther and Stephanie Schwam as directors.
Sex And The City alum Sarah Jessica Parker was also one of the executive producers on the project.
