Tom Hank's nepo baby son Chet has revealed he is throwing himself into pursuing music and has moved into a trailer park.
Chet, 35, has relocated to Tennessee and is now living in an RV rather than a traditional home to focus on his music career with duo Something Out West, alongside bandmate Drew Arthur.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the son of the Forrest Gump legend explained why he has opted for a simple life instead of staying in a hotel.
‘I didn’t want to get an apartment because I literally just got a condo in LA and I furnished it,’ he explained.
‘I didn’t want to do that again… staying in Airbnbs and hotels gets really old because I just like having my own space.’
The move was inspired by a recent road trip, during which he stayed in an Airstream and realised he preferred the simplicity of that lifestyle.
‘Man, I want one of these,’ he said, before clarifying that his current setup isn’t quite that luxurious yet.
‘It’s not an Airstream!
I’m not there yet.
But I’m really happy with it.’
Chet said he has all the essentials in his RV including a kitchen, shower and bed but insisted that the reality of trailer park life has been far from the stereotypical.
‘I’m probably the youngest person there by like 30 or 40 years,’ he said.
‘It’s not what you think… it’s all just retirees.’
Despite the outdoorsy setting, his day-to-day life hasn’t changed dramatically, he added: ‘I have a fire pit and I have used it,’ he said.
‘But most of the time, I just do exactly what I do at home, which is just stay inside and lay in bed and watch Netflix.’
Last month Tom was in the audience as his son Chet's performed at Stagecoach.
A fan was recording Chet performing with his band Something Out West when she noticed Tom, 69, was standing nearby.
She shared the clip on TikTok and captioned, 'Best day ever!!!'
The seconds-long recording noted, 'Watching Chet Hanks then realizing his dad is next to me,' with shocked and heart eye emojis.
The Oscar-winning star was dressed in a grey fedora, light grey jacket, jeans, and sunglasses.
He swayed to the music as the band performed their country-rock song You Better Run, released in March 2025.
Tom makes a cameo in the music video for You Better Run, which features Chet as his Forrest Gump character.
The single is off Something Out West's debut EP Leaving Hollywood, which came out in June 2025.
Chet sang alongside bandmate Drew Arthur, who accompanied him on guitar.
The Running Point actor switched into music mode as he wore a dark grey Harley Davidson T-shirt with cutoff sleeves.
He exposed his heavily tattooed arms while belting his songs in a black LA baseball cap.
Chet has followed in the footsteps of his parents, pursuing careers in both music and acting.
His mom Rita Wilson, 69, has been recording and releasing music since 2012.
And she was also present for his show on Saturday.
The songstress appeared in a group photo shared on Something Out West's Instagram account on Sunday.
She posed alongside her granddaughter Michaiah, Chet's 10-year-old daughter whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Tiffany Miles.
The proud mom commented under the post, 'Such a fantastic set!!!!!'
The mother-son duo were most recently spotted together in March as they attended the CAA pre-Oscars party in Los Angeles.
Hanks and Wilson tied the knot in 1988 and share son Truman Hanks, 30, in addition to Chet.
The Elvis actor also shares Colin, 48, and Elizabeth, 43, with ex-wife Samantha Lewes, to whom he was married from 1978-1987.
