Throughout 2026, text circulated online that social media users claimed an Australian person wrote in response "to Trump's rant about 'NATO not being there for America.'"
The passage lambasted America's medical system, incarceration rate, school shootings, low life expectancy, high infant mortality rates and abortion laws.
It also criticized Trump for calling Greenland "poorly run" in a Truth Social post.
One X user posted the full reply on July 1, 2026 (archived), adding, "Very well stated."
Versions of the text circulated on Facebook (archived), TikTok (archived) and Threads (archived), with users attributing it to different people.
Some posts dated back to May 2026.
Snopes readers also contacted us about the response, with some readers wondering if the text originated from Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
That did not appear to be the case.
Rather, the passage seemed to originate from a Facebook page and Substack blog — called, "I F***ing Love Australia," that posted the commentary on its Facebook account on April 9, 2026.
This is the earliest example of the text that searches uncovered.
The page's only manager, as of this writing, is located in Australia, according to Facebook's transparency info, suggesting an Australian person could have written the text.
The Facebook page wrote the passage in response to one of Trump's posts on Truth Social (archived) that claimed, "NATO WASN'T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON'T BE THERE IF WE NEED TH..." and called Greenland a "BIG, POORLY RUN, PIECE OF ICE."
Snopes contacted "I F***ing Love Australia" to ask if a manager of the page wrote the text and whether the writer is Australian.
We await a reply to our inquiries.
In the meantime, we have left this claim unrated.

And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare.
Free education.
One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world.
Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick.
Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
"NATO wasn't there when we needed them."
When exactly was that, champ?
September 11?
Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU.
Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU.
Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up.
For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman.
The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f***ing mouth.
Searching the "I F***ing Love Australia" Facebook and Substack pages for the term "aluminium siding salesman" revealed they had used that insult for Trump in at least three other posts (archived, archived), further suggesting a manager of those accounts wrote the reply to Trump's NATO post.
The page posted the commentary in April 2026 as the U.S. president publicly criticized NATO's perceived lack of support for the war in Iran.
In January 2026, Trump's messaging about taking Greenland by military force threatened the existence of the military alliance.
Greenland is a self-governing island that is part of Denmark, a fellow NATO member.
Trump eventually ruled out using military force to annex the territory after several other NATO countries deployed troops to Greenland.
By July 2026, Trump appeared ready to unsettle relations with NATO and Europe again.
During a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, he renewed his demand for the U.S. to acquire Greenland.
Trump's July remark came in spite of a reported prediction that Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen made, in which he said a U.S.-Greenland-Denmark working group, established to negotiate the island's future, would have come to an agreement about the territory by the end of 2026.
