Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to strengthen ties with North Korea, while avoiding any public mention of its neighbor’s growing nuclear program in a summit with leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang on Monday. 
“I am willing to work with comrade General-Secretary (Kim Jong Un) to maintain close strategic communication, continuously guiding the China-North Korea relationship to new heights,” Xi told Kim, China’s official Xinhua News Agency reported. 
“The two sides should strengthen exchanges in diplomacy, law enforcement, and the military,” Xi added.
