Given that instant popularity (the show reportedly drew an impressive 6.4 million views in its first four days alone), it's only natural that fans of Netflix's "Little House on the Prairie" are already wondering whether there will be more from the Rebecca Sonnenshine-created historical drama after its initial eight-episode run.

Will there be a season 2 of 'Little House on the Prairie' on Netflix?
Yes, even before the first episode premiered on July 9, Netflix renewed "Little House on the Prairie" for a second season, which means there's officially more wholesome Western goodness to come from the Ingalls.
“I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive,” showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine told Netflix .
“We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”

Aside from the formal announcement of the season-two pick-up, there hasn't been any official word on when exactly "Little House on the Prairie" season 2 will hit our screens.
However, filming is reportedly currently underway in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with production slated to wrap in October 2026, so new episodes could arrive as soon as summer 2027.
Who will be in the cast of 'Little House on the Prairie' season 2?
(Image credit: Netflix) Of course, there's no "Little House on the Prairie" without the Ingalls, so the whole family is expected back for season 2: That includes Luke Bracey ("Hacksaw Ridge") as patriarch Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald ("Crime 101") as matriarch Caroline, and their plucky brood played by Alice Halsey (as Laura), and Skywalker Hughes (as Mary).
There will be several already-introduced additions for the second season, many of whom Wilder devotees will recognize from her novels.
They include Laura's rival Nellie Olseon, played by Willa Dunn ; Nellie's mother Margaret, portrayed by Charlotte Sullivan ; and Rachelle Lefevre as local schoolteacher Eva Beadle, who looks out for both Laura and Mary.
What is the plot of 'Little House on the Prairie' season 2?
In the last moments of season 1, the Ingalls are heading to Walnut Grove, Minnesota, a real-life town that is home to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum.
Based on that and the cast additions, it looks like season 2 will primarily adapt the fourth book, "On the Banks of Plum Creek," which was also the basis of the original series.
The book's synopsis reads:
"The adventures of Laura Ingalls and her family continue as they leave their little house on the prairie and travel in their covered wagon to Minnesota.
They settle into a house made of sod on the banks of beautiful Plum Creek.
Soon Pa builds them a sturdier house, with real glass windows and a hinged door.
Laura and Mary go to school, help with the chores around the house, and fish in the creek.
Pa’s fiddle lulls them all to sleep at the end of the day.
But then disaster strikes — on top of a terrible blizzard, a grasshopper infestation devours their wheat crop.
Now the family must work harder than ever to overcome these challenges."
