(AP)  El mariscal de campo Fernando Mendoza, la primera selección global en el draft de este año, firmó el jueves un contrato de cuatro temporadas y 57,27 millones de dólares con los Raiders de Las Vegas. 
Los Raiders tienen una opción para un quinto año. 
Mendoza fue el último de los 10 seleccionados de los Raiders en firmar. 
“Estoy emocionado de firmar esto”, manifestó el quarterback de raíces cubanas mediante una publicación del equipo en redes sociales. 
“Estoy emocionado de ser parte del plateado y negro. 
No puedo esperar”. 
Dirigió la ofensiva del tercer equipo durante las actividades organizadas y el minicampamento, pero se espera que asuma un papel más importante en el campamento de entrenamiento, que comienza el miércoles. 
El veterano Kirk Cousins, quien firmó como agente libre un contrato con 20 millones de dólares garantizados, llega al campamento como el mariscal de campo número 1. 
El tiempo que Cousins se aferre a ese puesto será el principal tema del campamento y quizá también de la temporada. 
Mendoza espera trasladar el éxito que vivió en su última campaña de fútbol americano universitario, en la que ganó el Trofeo Heisman y llevó a Indiana a su primer campeonato nacional.
