If you regularly travel on West Peachtree Street in Midtown, then you’ve noticed the repaving, restriping, and installation of a new bike lane and parking spots.
According to Midtown Alliance, progress on paving and restriping from Linden Avenue to 14th Street is mostly complete.
The new configuration includes three vehicular travel lanes on the west side of the street, on-street metered parking directly to the right of the vehicular lanes, and a protected bike lane along the eastern curb.
The bike lane will ultimately have concrete curbing with flexposts in the buffer area to define the space and protect bike lane users.
However, these vertical elements are not expected to be installed until August.

In the meantime, the City’s contractor has placed temporary orange panels in the bike lane buffer to help drivers and cyclists/scooter riders understand where they should be.
Midtown Alliance reminded motorists that it is illegal to park in a bike lane or travel lane.
In addition, the on-street parking stalls, now located away from the curb, have been restriped in their final location and are available for use.
Drivers should also notice new “No Turn on Red” signs, which is now the law at most intersections in Midtown and Downtown.
The contractor will continue with the finishing touches on the corridor over the next two months.
Then the project will advance to the next phase of work further north on West Peachtree and on Spring Street south of 17th Street.
