A leaker with a decent track record has backed earlier reports of two improvements said to be coming to the iPhone Air 2 next year.
They’ve provided very specific information on one of the changes, lending additional credibility to earlier claims
## Ultrawide camera
The single camera on the existing iPhone Air has been one of the main drawbacks of the ultra-slim model.
Unsurprisingly, there have been multiple reports that Apple is addressing this in the second generation model expected to launch in the spring of next year.
It was initially unclear whether the second camera would be a telephoto or an ultrawide.
In our poll, 9to5Mac readers had a distinct preference for a telephoto lens, but recent reporting has pointed to an ultrawide.
Leaker DSC today backs this view.
> It’ll sport a 48MP main camera paired with an ultra‑wide dual lens
## Higher-capacity battery
Bloomberg had reported that the next-gen model would have better battery life, but said it was unclear whether this would be achieved through a higher-capacity battery or through efficiency gains.
DCS says that the iPhone Air 2 will have a significantly higher capacity battery and provides details to back the claim.
> The iPhone Air 2, according to supply-chain forecasts, will pack a 3,500 mAh± battery
To put this into context, the existing model has a 3,149 mAh battery.
If accurate, this improved capacity will bring it closer to that of the iPhone 17’s 3,692 mAh battery.
If you’ve been attracted to the form factor of the iPhone Air but been put off by either of these limitations, does this now put the device onto your shopping list for next year?
