The grandson of late mob boss John Gotti is accused of choking his girlfriend on Long Island.
Nassau County police confirmed Carmine Gotti Agnello was arraigned Thursday.
Charges against the 40-year-old include third-degree assault and property damage, according to a felony complaint.
The alleged incident occurred Tuesday in East Norwich around 10:30 p.m.
Agnello was arrested Wednesday.
According to a police report, the victim told investigators she was at her boyfriend Agnello’s house when he began yelling at her.
He reportedly believed his girlfriend was cheating on him.
The woman told authorities “the defendant then pushed and shoved her,” so she exited the home.
“While the victim was outside next to her vehicle,” authorities said, “the defendant then slapped the victim on the left cheek, punched the victim with a closed fist on the victim’s left side of her face, and the defendant then put both of his hands around the victim’s neck, causing substantial pain, swelling and bruising.”
The girlfriend told officers she struggled to breathe while being choked.
Agnello is accused of then pushing her to the ground and kicking her multiple times.
Officers said that attack caused pain and swelling.
The victim complained of pain to her arm, neck, left eye and head area.
According to the accusation against Agnello, he then looked at his girlfriend’s $2,000 iPhone before throwing it to the ground and destroying it.
The victim reportedly refused medical attention.
Police said her bruises were photographed.
The arrest comes just weeks before Agnello must surrender to go to federal prison after being convicted of COVID-related fraud.
He was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison on those charges in April.
Agnello was hoping to turn himself in to detectives for Tuesday’s confrontation after Wednesday’s Knicks game, according to ABC News.
He was reportedly released without bail.
The infamous offspring is the son of the “Teflon Don”’s daughter Victoria Gotti.
