CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that deputies discovered "essentially skeletal" remains in an abandoned building off of Happy Jack Road on Wednesday night.
According to the department in a Facebook release, deputies were called to the 8800 block of Happy Jack Road after receiving a report of human remains.
Responding deputies found a body that was nearly fully decomposed.
The sheriff's office and Laramie County coroner are now working to ID the body.
The investigation may take several months due to the condition of the remains.
"Currently, there is no evidence to suggest foul play or a threat to the community," the sheriff's office said.
It added that there will likely no further releases regarding the body until identification is complete and next of kin is notified.
