Both Charlie Kirk’s parents and widow, Erika Kirk, are reportedly expected to attend accused killer Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing in Utah next week, according to Fox News.
The hearing, which is scheduled for the week of July 6th, marks the first major proceeding Kirk’s family is expected to attend since Robinson’s arrest in the days following the September 10, 2025, assassination.
The 23-year-old accused assailant is scheduled to appear at the preliminary hearing, where prosecutors will present their case to Judge Tony Graf.
The judge will then determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
There is a possibility that the date will be pushed back, however, as the Utah Supreme Court is still deliberating a defense appeal regarding Judge Graf’s denial of Robinson's motion to ban news cameras from the courtroom — a move that Erika Kirk has opposed.
Though the family is not expected to speak publicly, prosecutors will hear from witnesses in an effort to establish probable cause for the case against Robinson.
Robinson allegedly confessed to the murder in a text conversation with his transgender-identifying romantic partner and roommate, Lance Twiggs.
A video statement from Twiggs will be presented during the preliminary hearing.
The 22-year-old has since been relocated out of state and is under FBI protection because of the case’s high-profile nature.
Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted of the highest charge, aggravated murder.
He also faces six additional lesser charges including weapons offenses, obstruction of justice and witness tampering.
He has not yet entered a plea.
At a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event held at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in the neck.
The next day, Robinson was arrested after he turned himself in to the Washington County Sherriff’s Office.
Last week, Graf found that the prosecution had violated a gag order, but rejected the defense’s request to strike the death penalty before trial.
Instead, the court ruled that expanded jury selection procedures would be the appropriate move.
