Saturday’s afternoon storm damaged multiple buildings across Philadelphia, uprooted trees, and caused some streets to flood.
At least two buildings partially collapsed due to the storm: a vacant property at 24th Street near Washington Avenue, and another building in West Philadelphia on Lansdowne Avenue near 56th Street.
Not far from that second property, the roof was blown off a Philadelphia Housing Authority property on Vine Street near 55th in West Philadelphia.
Debris littered the streets, and residents were told they could remain at their homes, with plans to stretch a tarp across the damaged structure.
Carroll Park, in West Philadelphia, had several trees toppled, as did Wharton Square Park in Point Breeze.
Peco reported that more than 34,000 residents across the region were still without power as of Saturday evening.
