Southbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway back up after they were shut down at the North Beltway Sunday following a fatal crash.
Two people are dead and another injured after a multivehicle crash Sunday evening that shut all southbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway at the North Beltway.
The crash occurred at about 4:45 p.m and involved a small sedan and an 18-wheeler, according to Rustin Rawlings of the Houston Fire Department.
The sedan caught fire after the crash.
Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, and one was taken to Memorial Hermann Texas-Medical Center.
There were no injuries to the driver of the truck, Rawlings said.
The fire department could not provide details of the crash.

The incident shut all southbound lanes of I-69 shortly before 5 p.m, Houston TranStar reported.
