Pasadena City College’s Free Transfer Bootcamp Fills Before Its First Session ⁠8%

Registration for Pasadena City College’s free three-day Transfer Bootcamp closed at capacity before the program’s first session, the college said. 
The college’s fifth annual Transfer Bootcamp started Monday and runs through Wednesday. 
Any active PCC student with a PCC Lancer ID number could register, and the college charged no fee. 
By the end of the program, students will be able to describe the key components of the transfer process, including major requirements, application timelines and deadlines, and to navigate online tools such as Assist.org, UC TAP, CSU Apply and the Common App, the Transfer Center said. 
Students who successfully complete the bootcamp will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement to highlight on university applications and scholarship opportunities, the Transfer Center said. 
Students who attend the first two days will be invited to the culminating award ceremony, where the certificates are given out. 
The first two days meet from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Creveling, on the second floor of the CC Building at 1570 E. 
Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. 
The third day leaves campus. 
Check-in is 7 a.m., and lunch and round-trip transportation from PCC to a University of California campus will be provided for the culminating event. 
Students will also be able to differentiate between transfer pathways such as CSU, UC, private and out-of-state universities, and to identify eligibility criteria and benefits for guaranteed admission programs such as UC TAG, the University of California’s Transfer Admission Guarantee, and ADT, the Associate Degree for Transfer, the Transfer Center said. 
They will develop a personalized transfer plan that reflects academic goals, lived experiences and support systems, and explain what makes a competitive applicant, including academic performance, leadership, community engagement and personal insight responses. 
The campus visit includes a guided tour and workshops. 
A panel of PCC alumni who successfully transferred is part of the program. 
Participants receive a transfer handbook, daily snacks and lunch, and a Transfer Bootcamp T-shirt. 
Attending all three days is not required. 
Students who want to include the Transfer Bootcamp as an extracurricular activity on their transfer applications must attend all three, the Transfer Center said. 
The registration deadline had been noon on August 1, or sooner if the event reached capacity. 
Students who registered should bring comfortable shoes, water and their Transfer Bootcamp shirt to the field trip. 
Pasadena City College has served the San Gabriel Valley since 1924 and enrolls more than 27,250 students each semester, including international students from 63 countries, according to the college.
