The first week of August is National Farmers’ Market Week, so it’s no surprise the state’s oldest public market is getting involved.
Findlay Market is celebrating the occasion with special events now through Aug. 8 to recognize the tireless hard work of America’s food farmers.
A large portion of products at Findlay Market are sourced from local farmers, and the market hosts a farmer’s market every weekend at The Shed just across the street from Findlay Market proper.
“We are fortunate to have over a dozen dedicated farmers who regularly attend our Farmer’s Market, ensuring that everyone, regardless of income status, can enjoy fresh, local food,” a statement reads.
“These dedicated growers and producers bring a variety of high quality food to Findlay Market each weekend, from fruits and vegetables to artisanal cheese, meat, eggs and more.”
On Aug. 8, the market will once again offer free produce samples, and Gorman Heritage Farms will give a second panel on pollinators at the market’s Education Center; participants will uncover how pollination works and why it’s essential for growing food, take a closer look at specimens of both social and solitary bees, and discover simple ways to support our local pollinators.
WIC recipients can also head to Findlay Market on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a special activation with food served.
In addition, the market will have local musicians performing live music all day long on both Saturday and Sunday.
