The DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department has officially launched the county’s comprehensive land use plan update, known as the 2055 Unified Plan Update.
Community members are invited to share their vision for DeKalb County through community meetings, local events and online input.
The comprehensive plan is a foundational policy document that establishes a long-term vision for future land use, housing, economic development, and sustainability, according to a release from the city.
It will serve as an implementation tool to help guide future development, public investment and policy decisions across the county.
“The update is being conducted in accordance with the Georgia Planning Act of 1989, which requires local governments to review and update their comprehensive plans every five years to maintain eligibility for state funding and ensure planning efforts remain current and responsive to community needs,” the release said.
A Residents, business owners, property owners, community organizations, and other key stakeholders are encouraged to attend the first community meeting to learn more about the project, share ideas, and help establish a shared vision for DeKalb County’s future.
